Reverse glass painting, or bolihua, is an art form first developed in 18th century China and is the only place where this technique is still being used. Each piece is painted from the inside using special narrow brushes and pointed sticks through holes at the globe’s top and bottom. It’s a highly skilled profession in which each artisan must perfect their technique over several years.
