Aravaipa- Howard Paley was kind enough to let me use one of his photos from a hiking expedition in Aravaipa Canyon as inspiration for this painting. I liked the drama of the mountainous backdrop against the desert vegetation. Aravaipa is a spectacular 7,000 acre private reserve located 120 miles southeast of Phoenix and is part of the Nature Conservancy.
