Coyote Blues:
This piece tells a story through form and color. I began by randomly applying paint on the canvas with a palette knife. I then drew the shape of the coyote and painted the background around him. Next, I designed the colors within the body to give it a mosaic-like effect. The small, dotted patterns add texture and connect the Coyote to the background. My favorite paintings combine realism with abstraction. The use of geometric shapes gives the Coyote a cubist feel, inherent in many of my paintings. I don’t consciously decide how I will paint--I try to just let creativity flow. One could look at this painting for a long time and continue to discover new surprises.
