Dave and Carol- If you are watching “Old Man” on Hulu, you’ll get the reference. This painting was created almost exclusively with a palette knife, which produces loose and surprising passages of color and texture, and makes the creative journey most enjoyable. I did not have definitive characters in mind when I started the painting, but their two personalities emerged as the work progressed.
