What often makes a scene interesting to me is the play of light and shadow. During the cold and rainy days this January, we had moments of gray skies where the sun poked through long enough to illuminate the desert in all its magnificence. This scene, at the end of Tucson Mountain range, was painted during my annual artist retreat to White Stallion Ranch in Marana.
