Samuel's Sabino - Friend Samuel Devore invited us to a hummingbird banding in Sabino Canyon where skilled volunteers catch and band hummingbirds as they migrate over Tucson on their way to South America. To everyone’s surprise, some of the tiny birds fly through Tucson on exactly the same day each year. After we observed the banding (and I actually held a hummingbird in my hand), we hiked upstream from the dam and found this tranquil scene and beautiful pool of water. The painting is named in honor of Samuel and will always be a memory of that special day in Sabino Canyon.
