Sunday Afternoon Flowers- I traveled to Sedona, Arizona in September with my husband, Miro, and spent sometime in the shops at Tlaquepaque-- a quaint retail center that has the look and feel of Old Mexico. After a late lunch, we noticed the beautiful courtyard just beyond the restaurant with its sun-kissed foliage and sides of the pots illuminated with color and joy. I knew it was a scene I had to paint. This painting is a combination of loose and free strokes in the vegetation and light, and precise, detailed work on the wrought-iron. The juxtaposition of the two makes this one sing. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
